Over the past five years, hundreds of local tennis players – many members of Walnut Creek Tennis Club - have participated in Ace It!, a fund-raiser that now supports the Carol Ann Read Comprehensive Breast Health Center at Alta Bates Summit hospital in Oakland. The annual event, scheduled this year for Saturday June 21st, has raised over $75,000 for treatment of breast cancer. |

2007 Ace It! Luncheon

Ace It! began in 2002 when a group of women at Orindawoods Tennis Club wanted to support their friends and fellow tennis players who were receiving treatment for breast cancer. In 2002 women with breast cancer often had to travel all over the Bay Area to get therapy. When it was learned that a new facility was being built nearby that would house all needed treatment in one place, Ace It! was dedicated to supporting the Carol Ann Read Comprehensive Breast Center. This April, the doors of the Center opened for the first time, serving as many as 80 women a day. All Ace it! supporters over the past five years have contributed to a uniquely helpful and hopeful place - this is the first center of its kind in the East Bay unifying the multiple services necessary for collaborative diagnosis and treatment under one roof in a beautiful setting designed for calm and comfort.

Please join us at this year’s Ace It! on June 21st. Tennis players of all abilities are welcome to participate in the day’s activities. Clinic sessions in the morning are taught by local tennis professionals, a buffet lunch is served on the terrace at Orindawoods Tennis Club, and an afternoon tournament (grouped by ability) is staged at Orindawoods and various Lamorinda tennis club locations, winding up with presentation of awards in the late afternoon.
All entrance fees go directly to the Alta Bates Summit Foundation to support the Carol Ann Read Comprehensive Breast Center so your entire donation is tax deductible. You can elect to participate in half-day sessions which include lunch, or the entire day.
